The beautiful Shiskine Valley is situated on the western side of the Isle of Arran, where the gorgeous evening sunsets light up its mountains.

Brae Cottage is only a 15 to 20 minute drive from the Brodick ferry terminal.

We have "The Steading", an en-suite double room with a memory foam mattress, offering a comfy bed to soothe those aching bones after a hard day out travelling and sightseeing. The room has a well stocked hospitality tray, hairdryer, flat screen TV with "FreeSat" and a built in DVD player, a selection of DVD's, fluffy towels, loads of storage space, seating area , and a huge bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle. A range of exclusive Arran Aromatics toiletries are provided to spoil yourself with. There is a drying room/boot room for your use, and an iron is available upon request.

We also have free Wi-Fi access if you wish to bring your own laptop.

Brae Cottage has a spacious area for private parking. There are regular buses through the village, and if you stand anywhere along the village road, the buses will stop (that`s Arran for you!). All buses run in conjunction with the Calmac ferry at Brodick.

A traditional Scottish breakfast (vegetarian option available) is served between 8am and 9am in the dining room, where you can sit and enjoy the uninterrupted views of the valley and Kintyre. A choice of cereals, yoghurts and fresh fruit also awaits you, with best quality roast ground coffee and aromatic tea. We use Fairtrade products and local produce where possible, to ensure you have the best tasting breakfast ever! (Our eggs are supplied courtesy of our own free range hens). Earlier breakfast can be served by prior arrangement.

There is a patio with panoramic views for your use, where you can sit outside and have a drink, watch the wonderful variety of birdlife, hares and rabbits, and gaze in the evenings (with a bottle of wine or two!), at the beautiful scenery, amazing skies and best sunsets of the whole island.

The Shiskine Valley makes a fabulous base for your Arran adventure. It offers great places to eat and drink, from morning coffees to evening dining. Just down the road at Blackwaterfoot, there is a swimming pool, gym facility, one of the best golf courses on the island, and a great beach where you can watch the seals playing or the otters running on the sand. You might even see a basking shark or two!

There are local shops, a post office, car hire, stables offering pony trecking, and there`s fishing in the local burn and lochs (day/week permits obtained from the local post office).

The nearby Balmichael Visitor Centre has a pottery, gift shops, handmade crafts, tea rooms, archery, laser shooting, trampolines, and a duck pond.

There are some of the best walks on the island around Brae Cottage. King`s Cave, Drumadoon Point, and the Machrie Standing Stones are must see tourist attractions visited by many each year.
